Message from our 2015-2017 President, Titessa D. Smith

Damali Stansbury Scholarship

Today is bittersweet! Some of you know that I’ve been counting down the days up to this point! “I’ve had some good days, and I’ve had some bad days. But all of my good days outweigh my bad days, so I won’t complain.”? I’ve grown so much and learned many things about myself as a person and a leader. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve in this position for the last four years. My chapter has done amazing things! We have grown almost double since I began from 26 to 44, numerous accolades, and the established our Stork’s Nest.

I may have been the youngest president in my chapter to bury a friend and a soror within a weeks time, but as a family we got through it. I will never forget Amica Sally Moses and all her antics ? or Gloria Wilson-Wilkerson with her fashionista attire, Zeta wisdom, and classroom demeanor. It still hurts and the wounds are fresh. I could not have done this alone so I have to shout out my dream team: Kimyatta Pitts (Olivia) Martina Lewis, Deirdre Laws, Kathy Urbaez, Ivory Marrero, Antionette Walker, Avonda Green-Ransome, Yvette Lincoln and Michelle Jones Dabney!! Thank you all for your unwavering support and hard work! You all went hard in the paint for me day in and day out! Olivia you are one in a million! Best right hand I could’ve ever conned into being my 1st VP ?Thank you to all that have served as coordinator or chair (can’t tag you all) because without you we would not have been able to achieve greatness! Damali Stansbury thank you for keeping us in the spotlight via social media! You’re best that ever did it!! Because of all of you I was able to smash every goal I set year after year!

To my successor, Lauwana Martin, I look forward to great things from you and your board to take Gamma Nu Zeta to the next level. I will be there to support you every step of the way! The gavel now belongs to you!! ?????

What’s next for me in Zeta?? Only God knows, but whatever is I will be ready!
